Martha L.P. Heassler works with nonprofit leaders to strengthen their grants and development programs for greater effectiveness.
Her services are rooted in substantial consulting and staff experiences as a development professional with a number of leading national and international institutions on the East and West Coasts. Martha's past experience includes work as Major Gifts/Grants Officer for Hagar USA, Inc., supporting Hagar International's long-term holistic recovery services addressing the complex needs of women and children who are survivors of human trafficking and gender-based abuses in Cambodia, Vietnam and Afghanistan. Her work with Hagar USA included serving as grants officer for TIPCAP and JTIP grants made to Hagar International's work in Afghanistan from the U.S. Department of State's Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP).
She has also served in foundation relations and capital campaign roles within two nationally-renowned institutions of higher education, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Gordon College, where she played a key role in major grants awarded to these institutions by The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, The William Randolph Hearst Foundations, The Pew Charitable Trusts, The Kresge Foundation, The Lilly Endowment, Inc., and The Henry Luce Foundation.
Martha’s early career featured marketing, public relations and fundraising responsibilities within the field of international relief and development as a staff member with World Vision in California within the height of the "Ethiopia Crisis” in the mid-1980s and as a grants consultant working from Boston with World Vision’s domestic and international programs.
