Statement of Experience

Martha has substantial experience serving leaders of national and international organizations as a communications, development and foundation relations professional – and have worked on the West and East Coasts in fields as diverse as higher education, international relief and development, social services, health care, management consulting, executive search, financial services, graphic design, manufacturing, publishing and technology.

Her experience includes both staff work and consulting services, providing professional leadership in the areas of foundation relations, fundraising/development and corporate communications. Her relational skills and strengths in the areas of administration, writing/editing, research and project management can be seen in accomplishments that include:

  • Prospect research, proposal writing and grants program consultation/management

  • Donor relations/cultivation, appeals and correspondence, particularly with major and institutional donors

  • Fundraising initiatives and campaigns for a broad array of strategic asks

  • Consultation/management for development databases, including use of Salesforce

  • Annual reports, case statements, and collateral materials

  • Corporate communications, media press kits and “fact sheets”

She has spent time as a member of the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI), serving as a Board member for NAMI-Cape Ann and as a certified instructor for the NAMI “Basics” course, focused on needs of children with mental health diagnoses and their caregivers. She has also done speaking engagements and media interviews as a pro bono spokesperson on hunger issues for Open Door Food Pantry in Gloucester, the Greater Boston Food Bank and Feeding America.
